Reddish Blonde - Organic Hair Color
Reddish Blonde
Colour Me Organic Premium
Certified Organic Hair Colour Powder · 3.5oz
A red you can try without committing. Six organic herbs, and only two of them carry colour — colourless henna leads the ingredient list, which is what makes this a soft strawberry-gold rather than a deep auburn.
This is the most limited shade in the red range. Diluting a red means it needs an even lighter base than Auburn Red does — on medium brown hair it barely registers, and on anything darker it won't show. Plant pigment adds and never lifts.

What "100% organic" means here
Not 99%, not 99.9% — every herb in the pouch is certified organic, and there is no base powder or carrier underneath them. Each shade is vacuum-sealed to slow oxidation before you open it, and shipped by air from our production facility in India so newer stock reaches you.
Radiant Warmth in a Reddish Blonde Glow
Reddish Blonde sits between blonde and red — a soft strawberry tone with light golden depth. Indoors it reads as a warm blonde with the red sitting quietly underneath; step into daylight and the strawberry surfaces.

Because plant pigment layers over the colour you already have instead of replacing it, your own variation stays underneath. That is why it shifts between rooms rather than returning one flat tone.

Same red as Auburn Red, one step back
Put the two ingredient lists side by side and the difference is one name. Auburn Red opens with henna — the only shade we make that does. Reddish Blonde opens with colourless henna, a herb that barely tints, and henna comes second.
That is the whole design: not less henna doing less work, but a herb that doesn't dye taking up the space a pigment would otherwise fill. Want the red without the dilution? Auburn Red →
How it differs from chemical colour
The reason most people never try red isn't the colour — it's that a chemical red is hard to undo. The pigment goes in through a cuticle that has to be opened first, and getting back out means another treatment: a colour remover, a darker shade over the top, or bleach.
Nothing is lifted to put this colour there. Lawsone bonds to keratin in the outer layers, so your own colour stays underneath, untouched. It wears down gradually as the outer layers wear — no border to manage, and nothing to strip if you stop.
- Powder-based organic colour for men and women
- Certified organic by ECOCERT
- No peroxide, ammonia, PPD, parabens or synthetic pigment
- Works on blonde, light brown, highlighted or greying hair — the most limited shade in the red range
- Colours grey readily; on darker hair that reads as highlights
- At-home application, no developer to mix
- Not suitable for anyone with a known indigo or plant-dye allergy — patch test first
What to expect
- Right after rinsing — a soft warm glow, and almost no green cast. There is so little indigo that what you see is close to what you keep.
- First day or two — the henna deepens slightly as it meets air. The shift is small.
- Where it lands — a warm strawberry-gold that reads as sunlit rather than dyed.
Still don't blow-dry. There is only a little indigo here, but the colour is still developing after you rinse and that reaction needs moisture. Shower cap while it processes, air-dry after — no heat for the first 24 hours.
And reversible doesn't mean temporary. Henna's pigment is bonded to the keratin, so it wears down over weeks rather than washing out in a few shampoos. If you decide it isn't for you, the answer is time.

Ingredients
Six certified organic herbs, and only two of them carry color. Ingredient lists run in order of quantity, and the first name here is colorless henna, a herb that barely tints at all. That is what makes this red soft rather than deep. And one thing the order cannot tell you: Light Reddish Blonde carries these same six herbs in this same order. Everything separating the two shades is in the proportions, which we don't publish. If you are choosing between them, compare the photographs rather than the ingredient lists.
Important: this shade contains indigo, which a small number of people react to. Patch test before use, especially if you have sensitive skin or have reacted to plant dyes before. Stop use if irritation occurs. 100% organic. Made in India.
FAQ
Yes, though only a little — indigo is third on a six-herb list, behind a herb that barely tints. It is what steadies henna's orange into a softer red. If you have a known indigo or plant-dye sensitivity, don't use it. If you're unsure, patch test and wait 48 hours.
No. This is the most diluted red we make — colourless henna leads the ingredient list, ahead of both herbs that carry colour. It needs an even lighter base than Auburn Red does, so on medium brown it barely registers and on anything darker it won't show. Plant pigment adds and never lifts. If you want a visible red, Auburn Red is the same red without the dilution.
Because there is so little indigo in this shade. The green cast our browns and blacks pass through comes from unoxidised indigo, and there simply isn't enough of it here to show. What you see at the rinse is close to what you keep, warming slightly over the next day or two.
Not while the paste is on, and not for the first 24 hours after rinsing. Warmth helps this colour along, which is why a shower cap works so well — it holds warmth and moisture together. A hair dryer gives you the warmth and takes the moisture, and moisture is what carries the pigment onto the fibre and lets the reaction finish.
It is designed to be light — colourless henna is first on the ingredient list, and only two of the six herbs carry colour at all. Beyond that, resistant or low-porosity hair takes it slowly. Two things help: start on genuinely clean hair with no conditioner or silicone, and give it a full hour rather than the minimum. A second application a few days later builds more depth than extending the first one.
Typically about 30–45 days, though a light red fades sooner than a deep one — there is less pigment on the fibre to begin with. Because lawsone is bonded to the keratin rather than deposited inside the shaft, it softens gradually rather than growing out in a hard line, so there is no regrowth border to manage. Strong or clarifying shampoos, frequent washing and very hot water all shorten it.
Not quickly. Henna's pigment is bonded to the keratin, so it wears down over weeks rather than rinsing away in a few shampoos. Nothing was lifted to put it there, so there is nothing to strip if you stop — but the answer is time, not a rinse.
It colours grey readily — grey has no melanin of its own to compete, so it takes plant pigment more easily than pigmented hair does. On lighter hair with greys, the result blends. On darker hair the greys will take the tone while the rest barely changes, which reads as highlights rather than coverage.
No. This is a non-oxidative plant colour with no peroxide or ammonia-type lightening agents, so it deposits colour rather than lifting your natural pigment. A lighter result requires starting with a lighter base.

It's made from certified organic herbs with no synthetic additives, but any colour product can irritate some people, and indigo in particular causes reactions in a small number. Patch test before full application, especially with sensitive skin or a history of reactions to plant dyes. Stop use if irritation occurs.

The US Pouch
Ordered as Needed, Flown In, Shipped Fresh
Every pouch we sell is handled the same way, from the factory in India to your door, so that it reaches you as close to freshly made as we can manage — and so all 24 shades stay in stock.
Sealed at the factory
Dried, blended, vacuum-packed
The herbs are dried and blended at the factory and vacuum-sealed there, while the powder is fresh. Air is what ages plant powder — henna's pigment breaks down with oxygen, and air-exposed powder smells much stronger.
Flown in
By the pallet, by air
Each shade is ordered in units of 25, and the shades due for restocking are combined into a pallet of about 1,000 pouches, flown to Torrance, California — days in the air instead of months at sea.
Checked monthly
Each shade, on its own schedule
We check every shade's sales each month and forecast demand from our sales history, with the help of AI. When a shade drops below three to six months of stock, we order about a year to eighteen months' worth — enough to stay in stock, not so much that it sits.
18 months+
Left on every pouch we send
We ship the oldest stock first, and take any batch with less than 18 months left out of sale. Every order arrives with at least 18 months before its expiry date.
