Copper Brown Finishes
Over Three Days.
Chemical dye is done when you rinse. Plant color keeps developing after you leave the bathroom. Here is the sequence, so nothing about it surprises you.
Right after rinsing
Copper, with a green cast
The copper is already there — but you may notice a green or khaki tinge over it. That is the small amount of indigo before it has met the air. It is expected, and it is temporary.
Day two
The copper takes over
The indigo finishes oxidizing, the green clears, and the copper comes through properly — brighter and cleaner than day one.

Settles into Copper Brown
The tone stops moving and stays warm. This is the copper you keep — the shade that reads rich indoors and lights up in the sun. Judge your colour here.
Why copper starts with a hint of green
Even a small amount of indigo behaves the way it does in the darkest shades. As the powder meets water, indoxyl is released and has to oxidize before it becomes the blue-toned molecule that steadies the copper. Before that happens, the unoxidized indigo can read green over the henna underneath.
That reaction needs both air and a little moisture to run. This is why hair kept lightly damp clears its green faster than hair dried out completely — the moisture is part of what drives the oxidation forward.

Don't blast it dry with a hairdryer
Forcing hair fully dry with hot air right after rinsing is the one thing that can spoil this shade. It drives the moisture out before the indigo has finished oxidizing, which halts the reaction partway and can lock in a purple or violet cast instead of copper. Let hair air-dry, or use cool air on a low setting — and give the colour its first day before styling with heat.
Three things that help it finish
Day one can look off. Day three is the truth. A green cast at the start means the indigo is still working, and it clears on its own. If a flat, dull tone with no copper in it is still there on day four, development stopped early — usually forced drying, hard water, or product residue. Most of it is fixable.
