Radico Organic Henna Leaf Powder is milled Lawsonia inermis leaf, certified organic. One ingredient in the pouch and nothing else — no fillers, no synthetic preservatives, no fragrance, no PPD, no ammonia. Net weight 100 g (3.5 oz).

Where the colour comes from

Henna's pigment is lawsone (2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone). The leaf stores it as hennosides, and mixing the powder with water releases it. Lawsone bonds to the keratin of the hair rather than resting on the surface, so henna does not wash out — it leaves gradually as the hair itself wears.

What it does on hair

On grey or light hair: copper to reddish-orange.
On brown or black hair: warmth and red that show in the light, rather than a change of colour. Henna adds pigment and never lifts it.
With indigo: the route to brown and black. Henna gives the warm base and indigo cools and deepens it — applied one after the other, or mixed. More indigo reads darker and cooler; more henna reads warmer and redder.

How to use it

Start with clean hair, free of conditioner, oil or styling product. Dry hair is best; towel-dried damp hair also works.
Mix the powder with warm water into a smooth, yogurt-like paste.
Optional: acidity helps henna release its pigment. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar per bowl and let the paste rest 15 to 30 minutes. Only do this with henna on its own — never when indigo is in the mix.
Apply evenly from roots to ends, grey areas first. Cover with a shower cap to keep the paste warm and damp, and leave it on for at least an hour.
Rinse with water only.

The colour keeps deepening over the first day or two. Strand test first — the result depends on the hair it lands on.

Wear gloves. Henna stains skin and nails temporarily; any tint fades within a few days.

Before you use it

Patch test on the inner forearm 48 hours before a full application. If it itches or reddens, wash it off and do not use it.
If you have G6PD deficiency, ask your physician before using henna.

Step-by-step guide for using 100% Organic Henna Leaf Powder to color hair a rich orange-copper tone. Includes paste preparation, application, processing time, and an optional tip for correcting indigo that turned too blue.

Prepare the Paste
Measure the henna powder according to your hair length: about 1/3 of the pouch for short hair, 1/2 for shoulder-length hair, or the full pouch for long hair. Gradually add warm water while stirring until the texture becomes smooth and thick — similar to ketchup or yogurt. Stir well until no lumps remain. For optimal dye release, let the paste rest for about 20–30 minutes before applying.
Apply to the Hair
Wear gloves before applying. Apply the paste evenly to clean, slightly damp hair. Start at the roots and work toward the ends, ensuring full saturation. Henna naturally stains the hair a bright orange-copper tone.
Cover and Process
Cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic wrap to retain warmth and moisture. Leave on for 45–60 minutes for lighter results, or 90–120 minutes for deeper orange tones.
Rinse
Rinse thoroughly with water until the water runs clear. Avoid shampoo immediately after coloring if possible. Allow the color to oxidize and deepen over the next 24–48 hours.
Optional: Adjusting Indigo That Turned Too Blue
If indigo-based organic hair color leaves your hair too blue or cool-toned, henna can help rebalance the shade. Because henna deposits warm orange pigment, it can soften excess blue and shift the result toward brown. Apply henna as described above and process for 45–60 minutes. The tone will continue adjusting over the next 1–2 days.

Great quality

Very gentle ash blonde color and easy to use. So far I tried Beige and champagne blonde shades with excellent results. My hair is mostly grey and seems to absorb the color very well. I left the wheat blonde on for two hour ( longer than the other shades) and got a very good coverage on my hair. My hair feels fuller and has more body since I started using Radico. Overall. I am very satisfied with your products.

HORRIBLE. NOT EVEN CLOSE TO COPPER BROWN!!!! ITS GREEN.

We’re very sorry that your Copper Brown turned green when you were expecting a natural brown shade. We completely understand how alarming that must have been, especially if you were not expecting this color change.
The green color immediately after rinsing can be a normal stage for a shade containing indigo. Indigo naturally begins with a green tone and gradually develops toward blue as it oxidizes. As that color develops together with the warmer henna pigments in Copper Brown, the final shade gradually moves toward brown over the following 2–3 days.
During this period, we recommend air-drying rather than using a hair dryer and avoiding strong shampoo for approximately 48–72 hours. Maintaining some natural moisture in the hair can also help the indigo develop properly.
If your hair is still green after 2–3 days, or if you simply do not want to go through the process again, please contact us at customer-service@radicousa.com. Since this was your first experience with our hair color, we can either send you another shade at no charge or provide a full refund.
We also appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Although we explain the green stage in our instructions and website, your experience tells us that we need to make this information much more noticeable before customers begin coloring. I was a little disappointed, I purchased wheat

I was a little disappointed, I purchased wheat blonde and followed the instructions and did not get the results I was looking for , it did not cover my gray but it did make my hair softer , I have less than 30% gray hair mostly on my hair line and I having light brownish blonde hair with a little gray , what color would you recommend, that was my first time.

Does not dye grey hair whether I leave dye on for 1 hour or 3 1/2 hours

I have very short hair, much shorter on the sides than the top as I have a mohawk and I let the hair on the sides grow in a bit between haircuts. I have only used the dark brown color and I have dyed my hair 4 times. While the color is pleasing to me, the dye will do nothing to color my grey hair. The first time I used it I left the dye paste on my hair for 1 hour. The last time - today-I left it on my hair for 3 hours and twenty minutes and it still didn't even touch my grey hairs which are all near my hairline. Each of the four times I used the product, I blow dried around the edges of my hairline for 1-2 minutes as instructed every 15 - 20 minutes and still nothing. I loaded up the paste along the edges every time. During the second and third hair dye experiences, I even sat under a steamer cap hoping the hot steam would keep the paste moist. There was no difference in my grey hair. I love how principled the company is and love their comprehensive website with all the instructions and how to tell if hair is porous , and how incredible clean and healthy and humanely sourced their products are. I wish I could continue patronizing their company but if the product doesn't work for me and doesn't do what they say it will do, I'll have to move on. Very disappointing!

Great coverage and pleasant scent.

Tried other henna brands but none of them worked. When I discovered Radico I was not sure how the color will come out. First I tried Champagne Blonde which covered my grey hair well but the all over color was a little too light. Next I tried Beige blonde and it came out just the way I wanted to. The greys are light blonde and the rest of my hair darker beige and golden. The color smella very pleasant ( my cats are very attracted to it ). I am very happy to have discovered Radico colors since they are natural and none irritating.

This hair color DOES NOT WORK!!!!

This hair color does not break me out but is terrible and doesn’t color my hair at ALL! I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone or ever buy it again. I’ve tried it 3 times and haven’t had good results in turning my grey black!!!

I like that this product is all natural, but the color is not brown enough. I left my color on for an hour and 20 minutes and followed directions with the boiling water and using the hair dryer a couple times during application. I also reapplied a couple days after first application. My color faded quickly even though I have rinsed and not washed my hair.

Color that lasts

It's a nice product, when applying I noticed it doesn't have any harsh chemical smell. Be prepared to commit two hours for the process. After the first application your hair will turn orange but during the second you will achieve your desired shade. Trust the process.
They did recommend wrapping the beard in plastic but I didn't have any at home. It would have been nice if it was included with the packet. Something form fitting that contours to the jaw line.
Overall I would give it 4.5 out of 5.

did not receive the gloves with the package

Do your research and NO IT DOESN'T FADE

As much as they may have tried to help, customer service that answered my questions were wrong about this key piece of information - this DOES NOT FADE as I was told several times. I never would have tried had I known. The colors no matter what I have done after the initial color has come out red. And when I checked back I was told they could not help me anymore and I was referred to the director but I never heard back (as of yet). It is a bummer because I was growing out my gray and now I have to start again BUT I also have hair that looks terrible.

Different browns

I do love the products but I am struggling with the colors I purchase and they all turn my hair to a reddish color. My natural color is brown although the grey has taken over. I started with light brown and it turned out almost all red. I contacted Radico and they suggested go to brown which I did. I had mostly brown hair but then it turned to a lot of red. I contacted Radico again and they suggested dark brown. I loved the color and had a little red but after a few weeks I had a lot of red again. I don't like the red streaks in it. Any suggestions as how to achieve just brown hair. I am okay if it turns out a lighter brown or dark brown, I just want brown with no red in it. I love how natural your products are I have also used the conditioners and bar soap, I just need help in obtaining a color without any red in it.
