Strawberry Blonde - Organic Hair Color
Strawberry Blonde
Colour Me Organic Premium
Certified Organic Hair Colour Powder · 3.5oz
The brightest red we make, and the most predictable. Six organic herbs and no indigo — which means no green stage at the rinse, no three-day wait, and no risk of the colour stalling partway.
It needs a light base. Plant pigment adds and never lifts, so on medium brown hair a strawberry-gold barely registers and on anything darker it won't show at all. This shade is for blonde, light brown, highlighted or greying hair.

What "100% organic" means here
Not 99%, not 99.9% — every herb in the pouch is certified organic, and there is no base powder or carrier underneath them. Each shade is vacuum-sealed to slow oxidation before you open it, and shipped by air from our production facility in India so newer stock reaches you.
A Soft, Sunlit Red-Gold Glow
Strawberry Blonde brings a light, warm red-gold tone that reads as sunlit rather than dyed. It sits between blonde and red — bright enough to be noticed, soft enough to look like it grew that way.

Because plant pigment layers over the colour you already have instead of replacing it, your own variation stays underneath. Indoors it reads as a warm golden blonde with the red sitting quietly beneath; step into daylight and the strawberry surfaces.
Why this one is simpler than our darker shades
Every complication in a herbal colour comes from indigo. Its pigment arrives as a colourless precursor, oxidises into blue over hours and into red-violet over days — which is why our browns and blacks pass through a green cast, keep shifting for three days, and can stall at purple if the hair dries out.
None of that applies here. Henna's lawsone bonds to keratin directly and shows its colour from the start. What you see at the rinse is close to what you keep — only warmer, and it eases within a day.
What kind of colour this is
A strawberry blonde is one of the hardest colours a salon can build. Getting there means lifting first — often twice — and then placing the most fade-prone pigment there is onto hair that has just been made porous. Red molecules are the smallest and least light-stable of the lot, sitting in a cuticle that never closed back.
This one doesn't lift anything. It works on a light base you already have, so the cuticle stays shut and there is no damage to repair afterwards. That's the whole trade: it costs you the option of going lighter, and saves you everything that comes with it.

- Colours grey brightly; on darker hair that reads as highlights rather than coverage
- At-home application, no developer to mix
What to expect
- Right after rinsing — brighter and more orange than the strawberry you ordered. That's henna at full volume with nothing cooling it. Normal.
- First day or two — the brightness eases as the pigment settles. It rounds out rather than swinging.
- Where it lands — a warm strawberry-gold. Judge it here, not on the first evening.
Worth trying: the acid step. Add 1–2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to the mixed paste and let it rest 15–30 minutes before applying. Henna's pigment releases more readily in mildly acidic conditions, which helps if your colour usually comes out lighter than you hoped. This works because there is no indigo in this shade — don't carry it over to our browns, blacks or Reddish Blonde, where acidity holds the indigo back.
And keep the paste damp. Cover with a shower cap for a full hour. Dry paste transfers no pigment, so don't warm it with a hair dryer — the cap holds warmth and moisture together, which is what you actually want.

Customer and salon photos, in their own lighting — not shot by us and not retouched. Every one is on blonde, light brown or greying hair, because that is where a light red shows at all. Four of the five are salon work, usually with longer processing and more even coverage than most people manage at home.

There is no version of these photos on medium brown or darker hair. Within light hair, depth still shifts with your starting colour, grey percentage, porosity and processing time.

Ingredients
Six certified organic herbs, and no indigo — the herb behind every green stage and purple result in our darker shades isn't in this one. Ingredient lists run in order of quantity: colorless henna leads, henna comes second, and after that there is no indigo to cool the red and no manjistha to deepen it. That is why this is the brightest red we make, and the most predictable: with no indigo in the blend there is no green stage, and nothing that keeps developing for days after you rinse.
100% organic. Made in India. This shade contains no indigo. Any color product can irritate some people, so patch test before full application, especially with sensitive skin or a history of reactions to plant dyes. Stop use if irritation occurs.
FAQ
No. This shade does not contain indigo. It relies on henna and other plant ingredients for its tone — which is why there is no green stage at the rinse, no three-day development window, and no risk of the colour stalling at purple.
No. A light red needs a light base — plant pigment adds and never lifts, so on medium brown it barely registers and on anything darker it won't show. This is the brightest and lightest red we make, which also makes it the most limited. If your hair is darker and you want visible red, Auburn Red is the shade to look at.
Not on day one. This shade has no indigo in it, which means nothing is cooling henna's warmth — so the first rinse reads more orange than the strawberry you were expecting. It eases within a day or two as the pigment settles. Judge your colour on day two, not on the first evening.
No, and that's the advantage of a shade with no indigo. The green stage, the three-day development window and the risk of stalling at purple all come from indigo, and there is none here. Henna shows its colour from the start — it only eases from there.
Because this shade contains henna and does not include indigo, the colour may develop warm, copper or reddish undertones depending on your natural hair colour and porosity. Indigo is what cools a shade down, and there is none here. This is a natural characteristic of henna-based plant colour rather than a fault.
Two things help. First, start on genuinely clean hair — no conditioner, no leave-in, no silicone. A light tone can't get past residue, and lightened hair collects more of it than most. Second, try the vinegar step: add 1 to 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to the mixed paste and let it rest 15 to 30 minutes before applying. Henna's pigment releases more readily in mildly acidic conditions. This works on this shade because there is no indigo in it — don't carry it over to our browns, blacks or Reddish Blonde, where acidity holds the indigo back.
It colours grey brightly — grey has no melanin of its own to compete, so it takes plant pigment more easily than pigmented hair does. On lighter hair with greys, the result blends. On darker hair the greys will take the tone while the rest barely changes, which reads as highlights rather than uniform coverage.
Typically about 30–45 days, though a light red fades sooner than a deep one — there is less pigment on the fibre to begin with, and porous or lightened hair holds it for less time still. Because lawsone is bonded to the keratin rather than deposited inside the shaft, it softens gradually rather than growing out in a hard line, so there is no regrowth border to manage. Strong or clarifying shampoos, frequent washing and very hot water all shorten it.
No. This is a non-oxidative plant colour with no peroxide or ammonia-type lightening agents, so it deposits colour rather than lifting your natural pigment. It cannot dye your hair lighter than your existing colour. A lighter result requires starting with a lighter base.

The US Pouch
Ordered as Needed, Flown In, Shipped Fresh
Every pouch we sell is handled the same way, from the factory in India to your door, so that it reaches you as close to freshly made as we can manage — and so all 24 shades stay in stock.
Sealed at the factory
Dried, blended, vacuum-packed
The herbs are dried and blended at the factory and vacuum-sealed there, while the powder is fresh. Air is what ages plant powder — henna's pigment breaks down with oxygen, and air-exposed powder smells much stronger.
Flown in
By the pallet, by air
Each shade is ordered in units of 25, and the shades due for restocking are combined into a pallet of about 1,000 pouches, flown to Torrance, California — days in the air instead of months at sea.
Checked monthly
Each shade, on its own schedule
We check every shade's sales each month and forecast demand from our sales history, with the help of AI. When a shade drops below three to six months of stock, we order about a year to eighteen months' worth — enough to stay in stock, not so much that it sits.
18 months+
Left on every pouch we send
We ship the oldest stock first, and take any batch with less than 18 months left out of sale. Every order arrives with at least 18 months before its expiry date.
