Ash Blonde - Organic Hair Color
Ash Blonde
Colour Me Organic Premium
Certified Organic Hair Color 3.5oz
A cool ash from five organic herbs — and only one of them carries colour.
There is no henna in this shade. That absence is what makes an ash tone possible: henna's warm red under a blue reads brown, not ash. This is one of six henna-free shades we make.
Give it three days. Indigo is doing all of the colouring on its own here, and indigo is the slowest pigment we work with. The blue-green cast at the first rinse is expected.

Real natural hair color begins with truly organic ingredients.
And when we say organic, we mean 100% certified organic herbs—not 99%, not 99.9%, but fully certified organic botanical color.
Colour Me Organic Premium is the premium U.S. edition of our 100% organic hair color line, designed for a more protected herbal coloring experience.
Each shade is vacuum-sealed to help protect the herbs from oxidation, designed for a 5-year shelf life, and shipped more frequently by air from our production facility in India so newer product can reach you more reliably.
Experience the refined beauty of Ash Blonde and let your hair shine with genuine, pure, botanical color.
Embrace the Cool Balance of Natural Ash Blonde
Discover the understated elegance of Ash Blonde, a cool-toned shade designed for those who prefer a softer, more neutral blonde without unwanted warmth.

Unlike warmer blonde tones, Ash Blonde minimizes red and orange reflections. Because this shade does not rely on red-dyeing botanicals, it is especially suitable for individuals who dislike even a slight orange cast from traditional henna-based tones.
The result is a clean, balanced ash blonde with subtle depth — natural-looking, modern, and effortlessly sophisticated.

Ash Blonde gently enhances your hair’s dimension while maintaining a fresh, cool finish.
Which ash shade?
All three of our ash shades are built the same way — indigo over nothing warm. The difference is where indigo sits on the label and what is above it.
- Darkest Ash — indigo second, with only amla ahead of it. Nothing diluting the blue. The deepest of the three.
- Ash Blonde — indigo second, but colourless henna sits above it, thinning the mix.
- Dark Ash — indigo fifth, with four pigment-free herbs ahead of it. The lightest of the three, despite the name.
All of it is printed on the pouches if you want to check. Compare all three on the colour chart →

What kind of colour this is
Most plant colour starts with henna, and henna gives one thing: a warm red-orange. Every brown and black we make is that warmth with indigo layered over it.
This shade skips henna entirely. Colourless henna leads — a herb that barely tints — with indigo behind it and three pigment-free herbs below. A little blue over nothing warm is what makes an ash.
- Powder-based organic colour for men and women
- Certified organic by ECOCERT
- No peroxide, ammonia, PPD, parabens or synthetic pigment
- Contains no henna — one of six henna-free shades, and the reason this reads ash rather than brown
- Contains indigo — the only colouring herb in the blend
- Works best on blonde, light brown, highlighted or greying hair
- At-home application, no developer to mix
- Not suitable for anyone with a known indigo or plant-dye allergy — patch test first
What to expect — and why it takes longer
- Right after rinsing — slightly blue or green. That's the indigo before it has met the air, and it is more visible here than in our browns because there is nothing warm underneath it.
- Over 48 hours — the tone settles.
- Several days — it can keep shifting. Judge your colour on day three at the earliest.
Do not blow-dry. Not while the paste is on, and not for the first 24 hours after rinsing. Dry the paste and nothing transfers; dry the hair afterwards and the colour stalls at the blue-green stage. Shower cap while it processes, air-dry after.

Ingredients
Five certified organic herbs, and only one of them carries pigment. There is no henna in this shade — one of six we make without it — and no manjistha or hibiscus either. Ingredient lists run in order of quantity: colorless henna leads, a herb that barely tints, with indigo behind it. A little blue over nothing warm is what makes an ash.
Important: this shade contains indigo, which a small number of people react to. Patch test before use, especially if you have sensitive skin or have reacted to plant dyes before. Stop use if irritation occurs. 100% organic. Made in India.
FAQ
No. Ash Blonde is one of six shades we make without henna — the others are Darkest Ash, Dark Ash, Wheat, Violet and Sun Blonde. Henna is what gives our other colours their warm red register, and there is none of it here. That absence is what makes an ash tone possible: a warm red under a blue reads brown, not ash.
Yes. Indigo is second on the ingredient list, and it is the only herb in the blend that carries colour at all. If you have a known indigo or plant-dye sensitivity, don't use it. If you're unsure, patch test and wait 48 hours.
It comes down to where indigo sits on the label and what is above it. On Darkest Ash, indigo is second with only amla ahead of it — amla carries no pigment, so nothing is diluting the blue. On Ash Blonde, indigo is also second, but colourless henna sits above it, thinning the mix. On Dark Ash, indigo drops to fifth with four pigment-free herbs ahead of it, making it the lightest of the three despite the name. All of this is printed on the pouches if you want to check it.
No — that is expected. Indigo arrives as a colourless precursor and oxidizes in air; before that reaction has run, it reads blue-green. With no henna in the blend to warm it, that stage is more visible here than in our browns. It settles over the next 48 hours and can keep shifting for several days.
Because indigo is doing all of the colouring on its own, and indigo is the slowest pigment we work with. In our browns, henna's colour is there from the moment you rinse and indigo builds on top of it. Here there is nothing underneath — the whole result is the oxidation, so the whole result takes its time.
Not while the paste is on, and not for the first 24 hours after rinsing. Warmth helps the colour along, which is why a shower cap works so well — it holds warmth and moisture together. A hair dryer gives you the warmth and takes the moisture, and moisture is what carries the pigment onto the fibre and lets the reaction finish. Force-drying leaves the colour stalled at the blue-green stage.
Not on this shade. The vinegar trick works on henna-based colours, where mild acidity helps release lawsone from the leaf. There is no henna here, and acidity actually holds indigo back — so it would cost you colour rather than gain any. Warm water is all this blend needs.
Only as a cool cast. Plant pigment adds and never lifts, so on medium brown hair this reads as a soft ash tint and on anything darker it won't show as a colour change. If your hair is darker and you want a visible ash, Darkest Ash Blonde carries the most indigo of the three.
It blends grey into a soft ash rather than covering it. Grey takes plant pigment readily — it has no melanin of its own to compete — so on lighter hair with greys the result blends. On darker hair the greys will take the tone while the rest barely changes, which reads as highlights rather than uniform coverage.
Typically about 30–45 days, though this shade fades sooner than our henna-based colours. Henna's pigment forms a covalent bond with keratin; indigo is held in the outer layers instead, so it wears away faster. Strong or clarifying shampoos, frequent washing and very hot water all shorten it further.
No. This is a non-oxidative plant colour with no peroxide or ammonia-type lightening agents, so it deposits colour rather than lifting your natural pigment. A lighter result requires starting with a lighter base.
Tell us. This shade takes longer to settle than most, so give it three days first. First-time customers who don't get the result they expected can have a different shade sent free, or a full refund on the colour.
It's made from certified organic herbs with no synthetic additives, but any colour product can irritate some people, and indigo in particular causes reactions in a small number. Patch test before full application, especially with sensitive skin or a history of reactions to plant dyes. Stop use if irritation occurs.

The US Pouch
Ordered as Needed, Flown In, Shipped Fresh
Every pouch we sell is handled the same way, from the factory in India to your door, so that it reaches you as close to freshly made as we can manage — and so all 24 shades stay in stock.
Sealed at the factory
Dried, blended, vacuum-packed
The herbs are dried and blended at the factory and vacuum-sealed there, while the powder is fresh. Air is what ages plant powder — henna's pigment breaks down with oxygen, and air-exposed powder smells much stronger.
Flown in
By the pallet, by air
Each shade is ordered in units of 25, and the shades due for restocking are combined into a pallet of about 1,000 pouches, flown to Torrance, California — days in the air instead of months at sea.
Checked monthly
Each shade, on its own schedule
We check every shade's sales each month and forecast demand from our sales history, with the help of AI. When a shade drops below three to six months of stock, we order about a year to eighteen months' worth — enough to stay in stock, not so much that it sits.
18 months+
Left on every pouch we send
We ship the oldest stock first, and take any batch with less than 18 months left out of sale. Every order arrives with at least 18 months before its expiry date.
