Golden Blonde - Organic Hair Color
Golden Blonde
Colour Me Organic Premium
Certified Organic Hair Color 3.5oz
A soft golden blonde from seven organic herbs. Colourless henna leads the ingredient list — a herb that barely tints — with henna second and indigo third. That order is what makes this a light shade rather than a brown.
It needs a light base. Plant pigment adds and never lifts, so on medium brown hair a pale gold barely registers and on anything darker it won't show.

What kind of colour this is
Our browns and blacks all open the same way: indigo first, henna second. This shade uses the same three herbs, reordered. Colourless henna leads — a herb that hardly tints at all — and both colouring herbs sit below it.
That is the whole design. Not less henna doing less work, but a herb that doesn't dye taking up the space a pigment would otherwise fill. Henna gives the gold; the indigo behind it keeps that gold from running to copper.
- Powder-based organic colour for men and women
- Certified organic by ECOCERT
- No peroxide, ammonia, PPD, parabens or synthetic pigment
- Contains indigo — there is a faint green cast at the first rinse, and it clears within a day
- Works on blonde, light brown, highlighted or greying hair only
- Blends grey into a soft gold rather than covering it
- At-home application, no developer to mix
- Not suitable for anyone with a known indigo or plant-dye allergy — patch test first
What to expect
- Right after rinsing — a faint green cast. That's the indigo before it has met the air. It clears within a day.
- First day or two — the green clears and the gold comes forward.
- Where it lands — a soft golden blonde. Judge it on day two, not the first evening.
Do not blow-dry. Not while the paste is on, and not for the first 24 hours after rinsing. Dry the paste and nothing transfers; dry the hair afterwards and the colour stops developing. Shower cap while it processes, air-dry after.

Ingredients
Seven certified organic herbs, and no base powder or carrier underneath them. Ingredient lists run in order of quantity, and the first name here is colorless henna — a herb that barely tints at all. Henna comes second, indigo third. Now compare that with Light Brown, which opens indigo, henna, colorless henna: the same three names, with the first and third swapped. That single reversal is most of the distance between a brown and a blonde.
Important: this shade contains indigo, which a small number of people react to. Patch test before use, especially if you have sensitive skin or have reacted to plant dyes before. Stop use if irritation occurs. 100% organic. Made in India.
FAQ
Yes. Indigo is third on the ingredient list, behind a herb that barely tints — enough to steady henna's warmth into gold rather than copper, not enough to build a brown. If you have a known indigo or plant-dye sensitivity, don't use it. If you're unsure, patch test and wait 48 hours.
No. A pale gold needs a light base to sit on. Plant pigment adds and never lifts, so on medium brown it barely registers and on anything darker it won't show. If your hair is darker and you want warmth, Light Brown carries more pigment while staying on the warm side.
Because indigo sits third here, behind colourless henna. The green cast our browns and blacks pass through comes from unoxidised indigo, and there is less of it doing that in a light shade. It clears within a day and the gold comes forward.
Not while the paste is on, and not for the first 24 hours after rinsing. Warmth helps this colour along, which is why a shower cap works so well — it holds warmth and moisture together. A hair dryer gives you the warmth and takes the moisture, and moisture is what carries the pigment onto the fibre and lets the reaction finish.
Not on this shade. The vinegar trick works on henna-based colours with no indigo in them, where mild acidity helps release lawsone from the leaf. There is indigo here, and acidity holds indigo back — so it would cost you as much as it gained. Warm water is what this blend needs.
It is designed to be light — colourless henna leads the ingredient list, ahead of both herbs that carry real colour. Beyond that, resistant or low-porosity hair takes it slowly. Two things help: start on genuinely clean hair with no conditioner or silicone, and give it a full hour rather than the minimum. A second application a few days later builds more depth than extending the first one.
It blends grey into a soft gold rather than covering it. Grey takes plant pigment readily — it has no melanin of its own to compete — so on lighter hair with greys the result blends. On darker hair the greys will take the tone while the rest barely changes, which reads as highlights rather than uniform coverage.
Typically about 30–45 days, though a light shade fades sooner than a deep one — there is less pigment on the fibre to begin with. Because lawsone is bonded to the keratin rather than deposited inside the shaft, it softens gradually rather than growing out in a hard line, so there is no regrowth border to manage. Frequent shampooing, especially with strong or clarifying shampoos, shortens it; rinsing with plain water in between is fine.
No. This is a non-oxidative plant colour with no peroxide or ammonia-type lightening agents, so it deposits colour rather than lifting your natural pigment. A lighter result requires starting with a lighter base.
Tell us. First-time customers who don't get the result they expected can have a different shade sent free, or a full refund on the colour.
It's made from certified organic herbs with no synthetic additives, but any colour product can irritate some people, and indigo in particular causes reactions in a small number. Patch test before full application, especially with sensitive skin or a history of reactions to plant dyes. Stop use if irritation occurs.

The US Pouch
Ordered as Needed, Flown In, Shipped Fresh
Every pouch we sell is handled the same way, from the factory in India to your door, so that it reaches you as close to freshly made as we can manage — and so all 24 shades stay in stock.
Sealed at the factory
Dried, blended, vacuum-packed
The herbs are dried and blended at the factory and vacuum-sealed there, while the powder is fresh. Air is what ages plant powder — henna's pigment breaks down with oxygen, and air-exposed powder smells much stronger.
Flown in
By the pallet, by air
Each shade is ordered in units of 25, and the shades due for restocking are combined into a pallet of about 1,000 pouches, flown to Torrance, California — days in the air instead of months at sea.
Checked monthly
Each shade, on its own schedule
We check every shade's sales each month and forecast demand from our sales history, with the help of AI. When a shade drops below three to six months of stock, we order about a year to eighteen months' worth — enough to stay in stock, not so much that it sits.
18 months+
Left on every pouch we send
We ship the oldest stock first, and take any batch with less than 18 months left out of sale. Every order arrives with at least 18 months before its expiry date.
